Spring racing season is upon us and you know what that means – wine, wine and more wine! If spring racing isn’t your style then maybe it’s the warmer weather that has convinced you to get out and crank up your social scene or even a sneaky Sunday session! Enjoying a few drinks with friends is a great way to relax, unwind and celebrate the return of the sun. So with that in mind, we thought we’d compile a little list of tips for those who are planning a big day or night out!
Surround yourself with your favourite friends and family – A good social life is so much better when you’re in the company of people you actually like. It might sound simple but who hasn’t been stuck at a dinner table or party with their not so favourite people? It isn’t fun for anyone! So do yourself a favour and surround yourself with people that you love. Not only will you have more fun but you’ll also be in great hands!
Plan, plan, plan – Planning might not be the epitome of spontaneity but it is also pretty important when you’re too tipsy to remember the finer points of what’s what later on! Have a plan before you go out. Know how you’re getting home and who might be coming with you or taking you home. Don’t leave it until the last minute, when everyone’s frazzled. Who knows what could happen! These days you can even take a photo of where you parked the car and your designated driver will love you for that!
Have a bite to eat – Or as we like to say, you may as well go the whole hog! When chatter gathers speed, our appetite for food can sometimes take a backseat. But believe us, you’ll feel a whole lot better the next day if you’ve given your stomach something else to run on! Consider this your permission slip for ordering another bowl of fries or an extra large steak and maybe even indulging in dessert! Nothing is worse than lacing your body with whatever your choice of ‘happy juice’ is on an empty tum, so eat up! And don’t forget to drink lots of plain old H2O as well – it’s always your friend!
Free up some time the next morning – If you’ve followed our tips then you’ll hopefully not need this, but just in case, why not treat yourself to a sleep-in? Nobody wants to get busy when they’re feeling icky, plus it will give you a bit of time to get on your social media and check out (or edit) what you did last night! Not to mention, if you have used Zero Drivers then you won’t have to worry about finding your car in the morning!
Wishing you the happiest, healthiest spring racing season and remember: choose your company, plan your exit, eat up and most importantly – get home safe!
